Which of these expressions signifies past, present or future?
Stand up in the aisle and when you hear each one respond accordingly -
If you hear a present tense, stay still. If you hear a past tense, move one step backwards.
If you hear a future tense, move one step forwards.
Sounds simple - here we go!

Both teams start in the centre.
Each team needs to get 3 questions right to score a goal.
If you answer incorrectly the ball goes to the other team
The other team must answer as many questions as it takes for them to get back to the other goal.
Madame Bewell is ref and will give out YELLOW and RED cards
These will be given to anyone who is cheating or not playing by the rules.

Year 9 have been assessed on their speaking this week (you were awesome!) and as a group we recently played consequences as a fun way of getting them to speak lots of nice French on the topic of holidays. They each wrote a word or sentence (eg where, when, how travelled etc) and then passed on to a friend. At the end they had to come up with a nice mini presentation which they tried out in pairs. Brilliant fun and quite entertaining too!
You could do this in preparation for a speaking test with anyone in your family. Give it a try (even if their French isn't that great!)

Last weekend I saw a lovely man called Nick Bilbrough from www.horizonlanguagetraining.co.uk speak at the Languages Show 2009 at Olympia. The man is a genius! I saw him speak last year and came away with masses of brilliant ideas for livening up my lessons and this year was no different.
Below you will find 3 videos from my first lesson back after the show with Y9 who are getting ready for their AfL speaking tasks on Friday. (Video 3 still converting!!!) In the hope of showing them that revision can be fun, we had a go at some active listening. Firstly as a whole calss and then in pairs. They had fun. I had fun. I even pretended to be a kangaroo. It's worth watching the clips for that shot alone!!! Everyone was engaged and I knew that they had understood the French as they were miming the correct mimes. Result.
Have a watch and please comment below - we'd love to know what you think.
Email me if you want copies of any of the resources I used [email protected]
Thanks again Nick - you got my first day back off to a lovely, lively start.

Here is a photo of me from Sunday 1st November 2009 at the Languages Show 2009 at Olympia in London with none other than Tony Buzan. (Thanks, Amanda!)
Yes, I am sad - this is how I choose to spend my half term holidays! And what an amazing 3 days it was - a chance to meet some of my lovely Twitter language teacher friends, learn lots of new stuff to try out on you lot in lessons...and a once in a life time encounter with Tony Buzan.
Tony Buzan is the author of over 100 books worldwide about mindmapping and memory techniques. He uses his technique to help make language learning easier. His presentation which lasted 45 mins was really informative, funny and thought provoking - what a lovely gentleman.
Below are some brilliant examples of mindmapping from last term created by my Y10 classes - a nice colourful representation of vocabulary and a fantastic alternative to a boring list. The brain doesn't work in lists - you heard it here first!
Bravo Year 10.
